Back in Town

Good Evening,

I wanted to write my excuse for the prolonged absence – as far as excuses go it’s a pretty good one! Got back late Sunday night from a visit home for my wonderful mothers’ Birthday, and yesterday I started my new job. Although things have been quiet here, I was actually able to write pen-to-paper while I was home. I will be posting those drafts, they turned into a description type exercise, shortly. Just ate a quick dinner then off to walk in the park.

Lastly, Kristiane the amazing has been talking with me about the definition of Toska by Vladimir Nabokov:

“No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.”
